Tackling Climate Change (PDF 3.9MB) is South Australia’s long-term response to climate change. It provides a series of innovative and comprehensive strategies for the state to effectively address climate change. The strategy also contains a Government Action Plan (PDF638KB). The action plan is a framework to guide the activities of government agencies in implementing the strategy for South Australia to meets its commitment to achieve the Kyoto emissions reduction target within the first commitment period of 2008-2012. How the Strategy was developedThe strategy was developed through consultation with over 600 people. This involved public submissions on a series of issues papers, and cross-sectoral consultations with industry, community, academia, local councils and government, including six sectoral working groups. The Tackling Climate Change Summit, held in November 2005 also provided a further opportunity for input into the draft strategy. A draft strategy was released for comment in January 2006. Further submissions were received in relation to this draft, and formed the basis for the final strategy.
